How Do I Choose The Best Hearing Aid For Me?

When faced with the decision to purchasing hearing aids it’s important to remember that hearing aids can’t restore normal hearing.  They can improve your hearing by amplifying sounds that you are having difficulty hearing.  Once you have decided you are ready to face the decision head-on, you and your Audiologist can sit down and address a number of questions that will make the decision much easier.

Lifestyle
Lifestyle is a big factor in considering what hearing aid to purchase.  Do you frequent noisy restaurants? Do you go to meetings often? Do you watch TV frequently? Are you a golfer?  These are the questions that your Audiologist is going to ask you when you come in for your appointment.  This is to identify what and where you hearing aid will need to perform for you to obtain optimal performance.

Manual Dexterity
Hearing aids require power from a small battery (10, 312, 13, 675), and typically need to be changed every week to two weeks depending on the size.

For those people who have issues with manual dexterity there is now the option of RECHARGEABLE hearing aids. The lithium-ion technology means you can you use the same battery and place the hearing aid in a charger.  There’s no need to worry about changing batteries!

Smartphone Capabilities
In today’s day and age everyone wants to stay connected, so why not stay connected with your hearing aids!  Bluetooth makes it possible to connect modern hearing aids to iPhone, Androids and even flip phones!  Depending on how tech-savvy you want to be, whether it be answering your phone through your hearing aids, listening to music, podcasts or movies.
